Al-Youm Al-Sabea TV presented a video from the front of the Sidi Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque, in the Mosque Square in the Al-Gomrok area in Alexandria Governorate, which is one of the most important religious shrines in Alexandria and the Arab world due to its historical status.

The Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque is the most important shrine for one of the righteous guardians of God in Egypt and the Arab world, who memorized the Qur’an and the entire interpretation in one year, so the signs of impeccability and jurisprudence appeared on him at the age of fifteen. He learned trade from his father in the city of Murcia in Andalusia, settled in Alexandria, and established a school for memorizing The Holy Qur’an and studied jurisprudence and Sunnah, until he became hesitant from all over the world.

The history of the establishment of the Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque dates back to the hands of the Italian engineer Mario Rossi, who was born in Rome, Italy in the year 1897 AD. Works and supervision of the royal palaces at that time.


Mario Rossi used distinctive motifs in building mosques and religious buildings, so he worked in designing drawings for a number of mosques, including the Abu al-Abbas Mosque, which he began building in 1933 AD, and the first prayer was held in the mosque after its opening in 1945 AD, and he chose polygonal drawings for the mosque of unique Islamic art. Mamluk architecture and some elements of Andalusian architecture.

For his part, Sheikh Jaber Qassim, Undersecretary of the Sufi Orders and Shrines in Alexandria, said that the Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque is one of the most important religious mosques in the governorate due to its status in Egypt and the world at large, and thousands of people from all countries of the world flock to visit it.

And Sheikh Jaber Qasim added to “The Seventh Day” that my master Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas is Shihab Al-Din Abu Al-Abbas Ahmed bin Hassan bin Ali Al-Khazraji Al-Ansari Al-Mursi, who was born in the city of Murcia in Andalusia in the year 616 AH corresponding to 1219 AD, and from it he obtained his surname Al-Mursi, whose lineage is related to the Companion. Saad bin Ubadah, his supreme grandfather, Qais bin Saad bin Ubadah, was an emir of Egypt by Imam Ali bin Abi Talib in the year 36.

King Fouad I donated fifty pounds as a contribution to the building and construction work during the construction of the mosque in the same place as the old mosque, while preserving the place of the shrines.
