The Central Stadium of the Budapest World Athletics Championships took 5th place in an international competition.
As the specialist portal insidethegames.biz reported, 35 stadiums with capacities of 10,000 or more that were newly opened last year competed for the title of “Stadium of the Year”. The Central Stadium in the north of Csepel Island served as the central venue during the Budapest World Athletics Championships last August. The winner of the competition was Atlético Mineiro’s new football stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The Hungarian sports venue was also displaced in second place by the new Karlsruher SC arena and in third and fourth place by two Polish sports facilities, Zaglebie Sosnowiec’s ArcelorMittal Park and the Wisla Plock football club’s Orlen Stadium. In other words, the Budapest Athletics Stadium would be the most attractive new sports facility of 2023, if you ignore King Football.
