For East Tyrolean virologist Gernot Walder, these are typical symptoms of summer flu, as it is popularly known. “Enteroviruses have been dominant in the district for a long time now,” says the doctor. These can spread in the gastrointestinal tract as well as in the respiratory tract. Walder can also report on streptococcal infections.
