Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s interior minister, has said he expects good news on girls’ education in Afghanistan soon. The Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August. This was followed by the reopening of Girls’ Secondary Schools in Afghanistan on March 23, 2022. Many girls came to study, but the Taliban ordered the school to close hours after it opened. Since then it has not started working yet.
The policy of the hardline Islamist group in Afghanistan, which does not allow girls to study, has provoked huge protests around the world. Now the Afghan Interior Minister has hinted at the return of girls to secondary schools. He added that there would be ‘very good news’ in this regard soon.
Hibatullah Akhundzadah, the Taliban’s top leader in Afghanistan, has ordered the closure of girls’ schools in the country. The move provoked a number of domestic and international protests.
