The General Directorate of Public Finance is betting on a new digital weapon to track down fraudsters, reports RTL, Wednesday June 8.
The tax administration continues to modernize. In order to strengthen its fight against fraudthe Directorate General of Public Finance now has a new digital tool, called Galaxy, reports RTL, Wednesday, June 8.
This formidable weapon makes it possible to control the declarations of the taxpayers. According to Les Echos, Galaxie automatically compiles masses of data and therefore facilitates the cross-checking of information. This tool can not only collect information on natural persons, in particular the entrepreneurs who are most likely to be audited, but also on legal persons and their tax data.
More than 10 billion euros recovered by the State in 2021
Only tax officials are authorized to consult the Galaxie application “to carry out research, investigation, programming, control and recovery of tax breaches”, according to the decree of March 31. A month earlier, the National Commission for Computing and Liberties (CNIL) had validated the implementation of this tool.
In 2021, the State had already shown itself to be more effective in its fight against fraudsters since it had recovered nearly 10.7 billion euros during tax adjustments, an increase of 37% in one year.
