Bengaluru: Congress has released the third list of candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections. A list of 43 candidates was released on Saturday. Apart from Varuna, the Congress has not given a seat to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who expressed his desire to contest from Kolar as well. In Kolar, Manjunath’s name is in the list. The list includes the names of Laxman Sawadi who left the BJP and joined the Congress on Friday.

Senior leader Siddaramaiah has been given the Congress seat in Varuna. Siddaramaiah, who contested from two constituencies in 2018, demanded two constituencies this time too. Siddaramaiah had earlier said that although he is sure of winning from Varuna, he has informed the high command that the people of Kolar want to contest from there as per their demand. He has announced that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be his last contest.

Siddaramaiah stated that he is more interested in contesting in Kolar and also stated that he has started campaigning there. But prominent leaders like DK Sivakumar and G Parameshwara opposed allowing Siddaramaiah to contest in two seats. Later he was denied a seat in Kolar. Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. Counting of votes is on the 13th.

With the release of the third list of candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress has finally given Siddaramaiah the seat in Varuna. However, despite his desire to contest from Kolar as well, he has not been given a seat there. Despite this setback, Siddaramaiah remains determined to campaign in Varuna and make his last contest count in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It remains to be seen how this development will affect the outcome of the assembly elections, but it is clear that Siddaramaiah’s contributions to Karnataka politics will be remembered for years to come.
