The trial of the 401 people arrested during the demonstrations of October 20 and the following days ended Friday evening in Koro Toro prison, we learned on Saturday. Most of the defendants have been released.

A total of 401 people were on trial at Koro Toro prison in the north of the country, where they had been transferred after the bloody demonstrations on October 20. Of all the defendants, nearly 300 were either released or given suspended sentences. Most of the Koro-Toro prisoners will therefore be released in the coming days.
The trial stood without lawyers, since he was boycotted by the Council of the Bar Association of Chad. He denounces procedural flaws and the government’s refusal to provide them with the conditions under which the defendants were taken to this prison located in the middle of the desert nearly 600 km from the capital.
The judicial team commissioned by the government returned to the town of Faya on Saturday before returning to Ndjamena. Until late Friday, she had to judge the last defendants, those who had no connection with the demonstrations but who had nevertheless been rounded up by the police, indicate judicial sources.
According to these same sources, 82 minors identified among the 401 defendants were brought back to Ndjamena three days ago.
