At the College of Law at the University of Sharjah, I researched the doctoral thesis submitted by researcher Suleiman Daoud Muhammad Nasser Nasrallah, specializing in public law, and its topic was “The threat to sustainability in light of the principle of sovereignty and exploitation of outer space.” This study aimed to highlight the tripartite relationship resulting from the need for outer space sovereignty. And exploiting the wealth inherent in it, and between sustainable development and the common heritage of humanity as two modern principles in public international law, and how to achieve the balance required of humanity’s common spaces due to their special and sensitive nature and the principles of sustainable development that add greater restrictions on their exploitation and investment, and between the basic needs of sustainable development from the need to exploit space resources. The study also aims to clarify the basic rules and principles regulating each of the areas of the common heritage of humanity, especially outer space, and the principles of sustainable development as one of the modern principles in public international law.

It was supervised by Dr. Shadi Adnan Al-Shudaifat, and the discussion and judging committee consisted of Professor Dr. Wael Ahmed Allam, Dr. Zayed Ali Zayed, and Dr. Ahmed Foley.

The study reached an important set of results, including that the principle of sustainable development is currently considered one of the most important governing principles in public international law. It is concerned with preserving and preserving opportunities for development and prosperity for the benefit of future generations and continuing efforts to sustain natural resources.
