The suspended senior prosecutor Rafael Vela rejected this Monday the accusations made by Jaime Villanueva, former advisor to the former prosecutor of the Nation, Patricia Benavides, in the sense that he had agreed to benefit President Dina Boluarte and former president Pedro Castillo in the research by “Los Dynamicos del Centro”.

In communication with El Comercio, Vela said that if he had coordinated some type of benefit for Pedro Castillo with Vladimir Cerrón, the money laundering prosecutor’s office would not have raided the premises of Perú Libre or the house of the former regional governor of Junín in August 2021. And he also did not request the freezing of his and his mother’s bank accounts.
Regarding Dina Boluarte, the former coordinator of the Lava Jato special team indicated that at the beginning of 2023 the charges against her were expanded in the money laundering investigation that is being followed.

In addition, he described as “false” Villanueva’s version that implicates him in an alleged JNE strategy to prevent the election of Fujimori Higuchi as president in 2021.
The suspended senior prosecutor considered that the “purpose” of sectors close to Benavides is to “dynamite” the effective collaboration of “The Philosopher” within the Eficcop investigation.
“They seek to establish a perverse logic, in the sense that Villanueva is believed about everything he has said against Benavides, why not about what was expressed against Pablo Sánchez, Pérez, Gorriti and myself.
