The truth is that customs officers put pressure on customers to ‘get off the plane and delete Facebook posts’

The Director of the Noi Bai International Airport Border Gate Customs Branch – Hanoi Customs Department – said that he had asked the customs officer to write a report on the “back and forth” case with the female passenger, to clarify. Information accused of boarding the plane at takeoff asked the passenger to delete the Facebook post.

NTT’s reflection, at 0:00 am on January 29, her family was doing procedures at Noi Bai airport to prepare to go to Japan. While queuing for procedures, Ms. T’s two young children went to the toilet (led by her grandmother) and then returned to her place to do the procedure.

At this time, the three grandparents encountered Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hai, who was said to be doing check-in procedures for acquaintances. This man shouted loudly at the three grandchildren and kicked him out of the area. Seeing the lack of standard behavior, Ms. T. exchanged and received feedback from this person that “not an employee, so there is no need to be polite”. Frustrated by the behavior of customs officers, Ms. T. posted the case on a large group on Facebook.

T.’s mother and daughter had to move continuously from the last row to wait at the Skyboss row because they were required to check their luggage after boarding the plane.

It is worth mentioning that, after boarding the plane and settling into a seat, Ms. T. continuously received a request from an employee to suggest that the mother and daughter have to get off the plane with hand luggage to check again. However, because the plane was about to take off and if it got off, it would delay the whole flight, so the flight attendant didn’t let this employee take T.’s mother and daughter down.

The person who is said to be a customs officer made the above unusual request three times. Ms. T. said that after seeing that she could not get off, the customs officer stepped inside the plane from the outside and took a pen and paper and asked Ms. T. to write a commitment to delete the post and not to use the picture. “I was very upset because of this, but the customs officer lied and asked the mother and daughter to carry their luggage from the end of the plane to the exit. Since the incident, the customs side has not received any feedback or apology. All customs officers’ requests and boarding at take-off are grounded and have all witnesses,” Ms. T. shared with Tien Phong.

Talking to Tien Phong on February 1, Mr. Do Manh Hung – Head of Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch – said that the customs officer who had to explain was Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hai – Deputy Head of the Customs Procedures Team. Luggage export, Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch.

According to Mr. Hung: “In the report, Mr. Hai explained that while doing the check-in procedure, he saw two small children running from the toilet straight into the check-in area. Seeing that, he asked to go back to the first area to line up. At that time, the mother of the two children came out to exchange and the two sides exchanged words.

Currently, the unit has asked Mr. Hai to correct his communication style. While performing the task, it is necessary to follow the discipline of the industry, and at the same time learn from this.”

Regarding the reflection that the vice-captain of the export baggage clearance team boarded the plane when it was about to take off to ask the passenger to delete the Facebook post, Mr. Hung said: “According to the video Mr. just stood in the telescopic area and asked the flight attendant to delete the post, not board the plane. So far, there has been no case where customs have boarded an airplane to check passenger luggage, because immigration luggage has been checked on the ground.”

According to the Director of the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch, at the time of the incident, Mr. Hai was on duty. But due to handling personal work, at that time, Mr. Hai appeared in another position.

“We have also reminded this matter. However, this is a personal case between the two of you, not in the customs procedures of the branch. After the controversy happened, we have not been able to contact them. female passenger because this person is in Japan, The Sub-department has made a written report to the Hanoi Customs Department to report to the General Department of Customs”, Mr. Hung informed.

It is known that after listening to the explanation from the customs, female passenger T. did not agree.
