The UAE has expressed its solidarity with the Republic of Somaliland over the fire that broke out in the market of the capital Hargeisa, which resulted in dozens of injuries and heavy material losses.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed its support for the Somaliland government and people in this tragic accident, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The massive blaze destroyed hundreds of shops in the densely populated Hargeisa market area as firefighters tried hard to put out the flames. Pictures published on social media, at dawn last Saturday, showed fire and smoke rising at night in the sky of the city, while emergency services announced the injury of 28 people, but no casualties were recorded.
