The final leg of the seventeenth session of the Al Dhafra Festival begins today in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, and continues until next February 8, organized by the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, and in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club.
The organizing committee for the final station allocated 2,597 prizes, with a total value of 57 million and 810 thousand dirhams, within 206 rounds distributed over 13 main competitions, which are: the camel race, the stall competition, the purebred Arabian horse race, the traditional Arabian saluki race, the falconry race, and the saluki race. Arab shooting championship, Al-Naeem sheep auction, dates and packaging auction, sour milk competition, sitting down tournament, cooking competition, children’s competitions, in addition to many heritage and cultural events.

The camel auction includes 118 rounds for purebred camel breeds of the locals, Majahim, Al-Wadh and purebreds, for which 1,135 prizes worth 53 million and 797 thousand dirhams were allocated, while 60 prizes worth 1 million and 800 thousand dirhams were allocated for the mahallab competition, distributed over 6 rounds for the local and Majaheen races, and the competitions begin in the auction and the mahaleb competition. Every day at seven o’clock in the morning, in addition to the accompanying heritage competitions, which are held over a period of 20 days according to a program included in the booklet for the Al Dhafra Festival and published on the social media platforms “Our Heritage” affiliated with the Committee for Managing Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs in Abu Dhabi.
Al Dhafra Heritage Market opens its doors to visitors daily, from four in the evening until ten at night, and offers a distinctive experience through its various shops that offer traditional handicrafts, popular food, smoke, fats, and traditional clothes, and it hosts a number of competitions, such as decorating and packaging dates, sour milk, and children’s competitions. It presents artistic paintings by the Abu Dhabi Folklore Band, affiliated with the committee, in addition to what is presented by the pavilions of the participating and supporting entities.

The event constitutes a foundation for preserving our authentic cultural heritage and ensuring its preservation and transmission to future generations, in continuation of the approach of the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, who instilled in generations the love of heritage and pride in authentic customs and traditions.
Al Dhafra Festival seeks to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a premier destination for camel auctions, and a regional and global platform for heritage, highlighting and reviving the Emirati and Arab heritage in camel auctions, and conveying the UAE’s cultural and humanitarian message to the world, as well as enhancing the values ​​of loyalty and belonging through practicing the authentic Emirati heritage.
