Some enthusiasts learned to run through Fallout as a pacifist, but the developers didn’t plan to add anything like that

Fallout creator Tim Cain continues to answer fan questions. This time we touched on the topic of pacifism in video games.

Players have learned to creatively master Fallout – in pacifist mode, but this version of the game was not originally intended by the developers. Tim Kane rememberedthat I learned regarding the existence of a “pacifist mode” from testers: at some point they asked if they knew that you might play without killing anyone – for the creator of Fallout this was a revelation.

In fact, the pacifist passage of Fallout is a pure accident: a kind of “side effect” of the fact that most dialogues are structured so that no one dies as a result of them.

The Fallout development team appreciated the idea and this “pacifist direction“began to support. Subsequently, they tried to transfer the ideas of pacifism to other projects.
