Huawei’s announcement of the new computer angered lawmakers from the US Republican Party, as they said it indicated that the Ministry of Commerce had given the green light to Intel to sell the chip to Huawei.

The United States included “Huawei” on a list of trade restrictions in 2019 amid fears that the Chinese company was spying on Americans as part of broader efforts to paralyze China’s ability to strengthen its army, and its addition to the list means that “Huawei” suppliers must seek to obtain a difficult special license before shipping to the Chinese company. .

Despite its inclusion on the list, Huawei’s suppliers obtained billions of dollars in licenses to sell goods and technology to Huawei. Among those licenses was a particularly controversial license issued by the administration of former President Donald Trump that allowed Intel to ship central processors to Huawei.
