The United States does not plan to initiate its own investigation into the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline explosions, said John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council.
“There are three independent investigations in three European countries. And the President has full confidence that these investigations will be as thorough as possible,” said Mr. Kirby (quoted from TASS).
He added that Washington intends to wait for the results of these investigations. The White House believes that three European investigations will help establish a comprehensive picture of what happened.
Explosions on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines occurred on September 26, 2022. On February 8 of this year, the American journalist Seymour Hersh published a journalistic investigation, in which he claimed that the American authorities initiated the undermining of the threads. The US State Department called this information disinformation.
The day before, March 27, the UN Security Council did not support Russia’s resolution on the establishment of an international commission to investigate explosions on gas pipelines. The Kremlin took this decision with regret, but at the same time noted that they would not allow the investigation of what happened to be “rolled up”.
