When thunder breaks out between Nicoletta and Claude François
The day things went wrong was when Claude François calls out Nicoletta by calling him… by his last name. She was then 25 years old. “We were kids”she emphasizes. “I didn’t like it! I said a horrible thing and we didn’t speak again. I pushed him and said ‘What? I don’t let you call me that by my name of family. Already, when I hear your rattle voice, I change positions.“
And yes Claude François did not like Nicolettait’s because at the time, the singer who is now 80 years old was part of the clan of his main rival: Johnny Hallyday. “He didn’t like Johnny’s gang and since I was part of it, I wasn’t his cup of tea, she explained on RTL already in 2020. I then refused to be included in his concerts, I did opening acts at the time to learn my trade, we went with big stars and we sang seven or eight songs as the opening act.” Would they ever have reconciled? History will never tell: on March 11, 1978, Claude François died at the age of 39.
