The unusual minute: LimeWire software is back, but no longer targets budding pirates

LimeWire, which was one of the main players in illegal downloading in the early 2000s (alongside AudioGalaxy and Napster), is back, but in an unexpected form to say the least.

The software, which allowed an entire generation to illegally download films (most often of poor quality or with misleading titles), is now called LimeWire AI Studio. And as its name suggests, it now takes the form of a community content publishing platform focused on artificial intelligence.

According to the site 9to5Mac, LimeWire AI Studio supports a variety of AI models, including SDXL, SD 2.1 and DALL-E2. And “the company promises to launch its proprietary model in September, taking its commitment to AI-driven content generation to a whole new level.
