As you might expectMicrosoft released its first major update for Windows 11 on Tuesday. It has now been several months since Insiders were treated to the new features, and these are now available to all users. This update includes new security, productivity, accessibility and other gaming features. Notably, there are a handful of new features and enhancements focused on improving the existing Windows 11 experience by fleshing out areas like the Start menu and taskbar with more capabilities.

Unfortunately, among all the new features that we had already detailed, not all of them will be immediately available. In effect, file explorer tabs and the taskbar overflow will come later. According to Microsoft, they should be launched at a later date, in October.

If you are still using Windows 10, know that you are also possible to upgrade directly to 22H2 via Windows Update. However, the system requirements for this release have not changed, which means that if you weren’t eligible for last year’s Windows 11 release, you won’t be offered the 2022 update either. Incidentally, Microsoft has once again pointed out that if your current device is not eligible for Windows 11, be aware that Windows 10 will be supported until October 14, 2025.
