US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will attend G20 ministerial meetings but will not deal with Russia “as usual.” This was stated by State Department spokesman Ned Price.

“We believe we can stick to these two imperatives: see the success of the G20 summit, without allowing what could be assessed as business as usual with Russia,” Ned Price said during a regular briefing broadcast on YouTube. He stressed that otherwise Anthony Blinken will take full part in the G20 meetings.

Previously it was reported that Vladimir Putin was invited to the G20 summitdespite the US ultimatum. Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the presidents of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky agreed to take part in the G20 summit. Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen urged Western countries not to boycott the G20 summit from-for Putin.

The G20 summit is held within the framework of the spring session of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Bloomberg wrote that the US authorities tried to put pressure on the organizer of the summit, Indonesia, demanding not to let Putin in because of the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. On April 6, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that the American delegation will not attend the G20 summitif Russia is present. Earlier, the G7 countries said they wanted to raise the issue of Russia’s expulsion from the G20.
