In the absence of the representative of the Senegalese opponent, the control operation of Ousmane Sonko’s candidacy file is postponed for a few days. Maître Cire Clédor Ly, representative and lawyer of Ousmane Sonko, explains the reasons for his absence from the constitutional council: “ nothing serious hypoglycemia and severe asthenia ”, according to his doctor.
Consequently, the Constitutional Council decided, in accordance with practice, to refer the file in last position : it will be analyzed after the 93rd candidate on the list.
According to the established schedule, the file of the leader of the Pastef party will not be opened until Friday January 5 at the earliest. Its content, with the various mandatory documents, will be examined to participate in the ballot.
The file also contains sponsorships: 13 deputies representing 8% of all deputies of the National Assembly signed the documents. But the debate has arisen over the validity of these sponsorships, which do not appear on the official form issued by the general directorate of elections.
While she had refused to hand them over to her agent, due to her removal from the electoral lists, this radiation was canceled by the Senegalese courts. The cancellation is the subject of an appeal by the State of Senegal.
