The Video Game History Foundation accuses Nintendo of “actively destroying” history by closing its eShops

The Video Game History Foundation has criticized Nintendo’s decision to close the digital stores of its Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles, and has held the Japanese company responsible for “actively destroy the history” of the sector.

“Not providing commercial access is understandable, but avoiding the work of institutions to preserve these video games implies actively destroying the history of the video game“, has denounced the organization.

It has also asked members of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the industry membership association that also organizes E3, to “reconsider your position and work with the institutions to find a solution“.

Only the closure of the Wii U eShop will provoke what more than 256 video games that only have a digital version disappear for this Nintendo console, and will affect more than 700 titles also with physical versions.
