The Vigilance Moustiques site has placed more than 60 metropolitan departments on red alert against the tiger mosquito, which means that the species is “established and active” in the regions concerned. The tiger mosquito can carry tropical diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya or the Zika virus.

According to the Vigilance Moustiques map, a large part of France is affected by this red alert, mainly the south and center of the country.

Five departments are on orange alert “punctual interception”: Haute-Loire, Allier, Yonne, Loir-et-Cher, Ille-et-Vilaine and Oise. The other departments are on yellow alert “entomological surveillance”.

Overseas, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion and Mayotte are at the highest alert threshold with cases of declared disease.
