For several months, a simple insulated cup has been the subject of thousands of videos on the social network Tiktok. Yet a basic product.
The power of TikTok once again at work. Having become a reference for brands, the Chinese social network has for several months been the subject of an intense campaign by its users to highlight an insulated cup.
A bottle that accumulates millions on TikTok
Manufactured by Stanley, a company specializing in water bottles, tumblers and beverage accessories, the Stanley Cup has seen its popularity increase significantly in recent months, particularly after the uproar caused by the release of a limited edition of the cup for Saint’s Day. Valentin in the United States, but also by stars like Justin Bieber, seen consuming their drink with the precious object.
It didn’t take much for the phenomenon to reach Tiktok, where we can see many Americans – mainly women – extolling the merits of this insulated cup sold for 50 euros, the main interest of which happens to be its handle particularly imposing, and its 1.2 liter size made to fit in the cup holder of an (American) car.
Stanley has understood the marketing power of its much-loved Stanley Cup, which has tens of millions of views on TikTok, by regularly offering limited editions.
A product sometimes criticized
But on Tiktok, some French users are disappointed by their purchase, due to the tightness of the cup considered too limited. One of them believes that the object is above all designed for the American market where consumers mainly travel by car: “It is not at all waterproof, so it is a hassle to transport. leave if you’re an American and you literally live in your car.” She invites her subscribers to “keep their money.”
A criticism that can also be found on the brand’s official website, in certain comments. “The only problem is that the lid is not waterproof, and you should therefore not carry the Stanley Cup in a bag,” says one customer. Note, however, that the primary function of the insulated cup, namely maintaining the temperature of hot or cold drinks, seems satisfactory in the eyes of customers.
