That, Apple must not have seen it coming and should have been able to know. While we learned at the beginning of the week that it would be complicated to market the Vision Pro in China under this name since already registered by Huawei, we learned this Friday that in other countries too, the Vision Pro brand had already been registered, and not by Apple.
As reported 9To5Mac, there are already 58 trademark registrations under the name Vision Pro around the world. In India, the United States, Ireland or even Brazil, other companies have already chosen Vision Pro as the name for their product. Successful trademark registrations which concern products affecting several different markets, not especially mixed reality.
In China, Apple will probably have to rebrand its new headset since it’s the same market as Huawei, while fortunately that shouldn’t be a problem in other countries, since they don’t cater to the same market. On the other hand, in the United States, the company Cognex had already filed the Vision Pro name with the USPTO, which specializes in 2D and 3D vision products. This might then pose problems for Apple.
