One of the cases that most alerted the authorities was the discovery of two bodies wrapped in sacks Inside a taxi that was abandoned at Carrera 54 with Calle 25, in the Trinidad neighborhood, southwest of Medellín.

The victims of this incident were identified as Emiro Tuberquia, 39, and Edisson Fabio Sosa López, 43. The taxi was stolen in the Vallejuelos neighborhood, in the commune 7 (Robledo) hours before this discovery was made.

The Secretary of Security of Medellín, General (r) José Gerardo Acevedo, confirmed that these two bodies had been transferred from this commune and that seven of the eight homicides of the day had to do with retaliation between the gang Los Pesebreros.

Even, according to court reports, Edisson Fabio he had been sentenced in 2015 to eight years in prison for the crime of forced displacement when he was the leader of the criminal group La Huerta. He was known by the alias “Brayan” and was responsible for two families having to leave their homes against his will.

These streaks of homicide may not be continuous in this part of the city, because, according to experts of the armed conflict in the city, they seek to avoid police pressure in the midst of settling scores.

Carlos Arcila, a human rights defender from the northwest of Medellín, indicated that this situation has been going on for several months, but that it is a “sleeping lion that calms down and when he wakes up there are always homicides, threats and displaced persons”.

According to the Secretary of Security of Medellín, this increase It has been presenting, mainly, in the second semester of this year, since in June the number of homicides was equal at the end of the first semester at 18 cases per year, both in 2021 and in 2022.

“For us it could be an intention of some of consolidate a new power. It may be happening that there are people who feel that they should no longer belong to this structure and should become independent. That has been felt in various parts,” Quijano asserted.

Even the eight homicides in November they unbalanced the accounts that the Medellín Mayor’s Office had for November, when there was a decrease of one case compared to 2021, but with the streak there were seven more cases.

According to General (r) Acevedo, November ended with 36 homicides in Medellín, while last year it ended with 29.

“It is a good indicator, but it is still regrettable. We are working and we are going to capture the criminals,” said the secretary.

Some conflict experts would be mentioning that armed conflicts are brewing in other parts of the city, but that they have not yet awakened. “Note that, in addition to this situation in Robledo, two more urban wars could be brewing in the city.
