Titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, the upcoming upgrade is scheduled to launch on September 29. While the package brings native versions to current-generation platforms including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside a native release for the Nintendo Switch 2, the PC version stands out by introducing real-time path tracing and a move to native DirectX 12, significantly raising the bar for system performance.
According to announcements from the developer, the remastered edition will be made available completely free of charge to anyone who already owns the Complete Edition. Co-developed alongside Yigsoft—a studio that previously collaborated on The Witcher 3 Complete Edition and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty—this new version aims to deliver a modern rendering pipeline that goes far beyond the scope of the 2012-era original and the 2022 next-generation patch.

The centerpiece of the PC upgrade is the inclusion of real-time path tracing, a demanding lighting technique that simulates light rays with physical accuracy. To help systems manage the heavy computational load, CD Projekt RED has incorporated robust support for major upscaling and reconstruction frameworks. The PC release will support NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2.0.
