Netflix’s The Witcher series has cast a well-known face for season four: Laurence Fishburne.

He will play Regis, a vampire over 400 years old who befriends Geralt in the third book of the saga created by Andrzej Sapkowski, “Baptism of Fire”. He also appears in the books “The Tower of the Swallow” and “The Lady of the Lake”, in addition to also appearing in the games.

It’s unclear whether Netflix will keep its story from the books or make some changes. In the official announcement, Fishburne said he was proud to join the cast and is looking forward to exploring the wonderful world of The Witcher.

In addition to the addition of the renowned actor, the cast for the fourth season features Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, replacing star Henry Cavill, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Joey Batey as Dandelion.

Few details about the fourth season are known, but Netlix has released a synopsis indicating what fans can expect:

Following the shocking Continent-altering events that close season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri as they traverse the war-torn continent and its many demons. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they will have a chance to survive their baptism of fire – and find themselves again.

So far, the fourth season does not have a release date. If Netflix maintains the two-year gap from one season to the next, it is expected to be available in 2025.
