On Thursday August 11, 2022, the Prime Minister of the Burundian government, Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, visited the field to assess the progress of construction work on the Ruzibazi hydroelectric dam. The work should be completed next October. Mr. Bunyoni hailed the courage, bravery and determination that characterized the Chinese company “Power China Zhongnan” which, despite the challenges linked to the coronavirus disease, built and completed the works before the end of the deadline. .
Speaking to the press, the spokesman for the Prime Minister, Moïse Nkurunziza indicated that the Prime Minister was delighted with the quality of this infrastructure and the respect of the execution deadline.
The Prime Minister, added his spokesman, called on the other companies to follow in the footsteps of this company by respecting the deadlines for carrying out the work entrusted to them.
Mr. Nkurunziza also indicated that the Burundian population will benefit from this dam. This dam will allow Burundians in general and young people who embark on income-generating activities to benefit from it. And to conclude that the construction of hydroelectric dams is a sign that the Burundian government wants to end the challenge of load shedding.
It should be noted that the construction works of the Ruzibazi hydroelectric power plant started in October 2018 and were completed in July 2022.
