One question I like to ask my school classes is how big a vessel would have to be to hold all the water on a globe. The common thing is that although we are generally quite good at estimating lengths and are also reasonably good at dealing with areas, we generally have a difficult time when it comes to volumes. In addition to the conversion of different spatial dimensions, we may also have a false understanding of the situation.
