There are 200 interested in studying Medicine in Bariloche

This Friday ends the registration for the Medicine career of the Andean headquarters of the National University of Río Negro. Until now there are only 200 registered in relation to the 470 who signed up for the first year of the race. They estimate that this will be the real number after the launch boom.

“We have a different income than the rest of the university. We start virtually on October 11th until November 25th. The truth is that we are having a hard time getting fifth-year students to understand that they have to enroll now,” explained Mariela Bellotti, admissions coordinator.

He stressed that registration is simple and online, the course will be virtual and will only consist of “uploading” some tasks that will not carry a note. from college, define it as an accompaniment.
For this reason, reading articles will be provided in order to achieve text comprehension, answer questions, participate in forums and finally, they must carry out a simple survey related to food.

“Why did we decide to take the course at this time? To strengthen vocations. Students will have activities related to their professional life. The idea is that they know if they like -or not- to study medicine”, indicated Bellotti.

After this virtual course, face-to-face classes will begin on February 1st, with subjects such as Biology, Mathematics, Health and Society and on February 28 they must take the exam.

“Nothing is taken that has not been given. Absolutely all the contents, bibliography and consultation classes are given. Those who pass with 60% go on to multiple mini-interviews. It is not a cognitive test. They are interviews of common situations to know how they would react”, Bellotti clarified.

After passing these instances, the final list of students is assembled. They are 48 in total those who enter the race, to which is added the “protected quota” of 20% of students with disabilities and those from the Southern Line.

Regarding the drop in enrollment for the second year of the degree, the authorities considered that, at first, the degree generated strong interest among students from other localities, but the shortage and the very high rental values made many give up settling in Bariloche.

“We get a lot of inquiries about affordable rentals. The university grants a scholarship but it does not cover those values”, he said and highlighted that today, in the first year of the degree, the 47 students continue studying. Only one student dropped out because she decided to return to her place of origin. “It is a good number considering the levels of desertion in the universities”, he mentioned.
