Finally, how do you respond to those who accuse Schlein of being too friendly and of having forgotten the moderates?
«Luckily Schlein is from the left. He fought battles in which we all recognized ourselves.
What does it mean to be left-wing? Defend public health, the minimum wage, address the very serious issue of abstentionism? This means staying on one side.
Isn’t it a necessity to fight every form of reduction of democracy? It’s the ABC of what a coalition capable of bringing together different sensitivities should do.”
Does it also refer to Catholics?
«Certainly, they should be able to express the radicalism of Pope Francis. The same goes for the left. What kind of left is it if the issue of the fight against inequalities and participation is not raised? These are the foundations to be pursued with tenacity, starting from concrete objectives. We have finally discovered what public health is facing if clear action is not taken. We have a ridiculous government decree regarding non-self-sufficient elderly people. This is the place to make a difference.”
