Othman Jerand, Tunisian Minister for Foreign Affairs

The Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jerandi, declared, Friday, January 07, that answers were given to the questions of the United States without being under pressure, following the exceptional measures announced by President Kaïs Saïed, July 25 last.

This is what he told reporters during a press conference held in the capital, Tunis, on the occasion of the end of Tunisia’s mandate as a non-permanent member of the Security Council of theHIM-HER-IT.
“American questions were raised following the announcement of the exceptional measures and the United States obtained answers without our being under pressure,” he said. And the minister added: “Tunisia and the United States have good relations and there is no diplomatic crisis between the two countries”, noting that consultations and cooperation projects between the two countries were continuing.
On December 15, the United States welcomed the announcement by the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, of the calendar of political reforms and the organization of early legislative elections December 17, 2022.
