There was a “permanent fire” on New Year’s Eve this year

Dear Mr. Hillerzeder, dear pillory shooters! Actually, I am of the opinion that lived customs are extremely important – especially with today’s digitalization and the tendency towards virtual worlds. For me, shooting the pillory shooters was always part of it. I also like fireworks – at midnight on New Year’s Eve and sometimes on special occasions.

As a veterinarian, I accept the possible shitstorm caused by these statements. I have a dog myself that isn’t bulletproof, but he can get through a day just fine with sedatives.

But this New Year’s Eve makes me rethink my attitude. Not just “continuous fire” on December 31st, no, almost non-stop gunfire from early to late on December 30th. And on January 1st New Year’s shooting. And on January 6th Epiphany shooting. And then a wedding or a birthday. Perhaps one should consider that not only do countless dogs, cats, horses and wild animals remain nervous and unnerved for days, but there are also enough people here who have been traumatized by the war.

I doubt whether such a militant tradition is appropriate. I now lack understanding of this and I know that I’m not the only one.
