They confirmed that the body of the climber found in San Juan belongs to Marta Altamirano

Relatives of Martha Altamiranoa Tucuman climber who had disappeared in 1981, on Cerro Mercedario, confirmed that the body found days ago in San Juan, It is about the young woman who was 20 years old.

The climber lost her life while climbing the hill with one of her sisters and a friend.

That March 21, 1981, the girl fell hundreds of meters down the hill but they were never able to recover his body, which was found the previous week at an altitude of 5,000 meters, attached to the ice.

Meanwhile, Altamirano’s relatives appeared on Friday at the morgue in the city of San Juan, where They recognized some items that he was carrying at the time. Although a DNA test remains to be done, his relatives have already confirmed that it is Marta, thanks to a scapular (miniature of the Carmelite habit) that he had around his neck.

According to Corina, one of Marta’s sisters, confided, once the judicial procedures were completed, the body of the young woman will be sent to Tucumán for an intimate ceremonyand later it will be cremated and then spread the ashes on the hill where he died 42 years ago.
