A user has discovered a hidden feature of Sony‘s first PlayStation, the PS1, that allows you to recover recently deleted files on memory cards.
The PlayStation 1 was launched in Japan in 1994 – it arrived in Spain in September 1995 – and at that time, users needed an external memory card to save their progress, since there was no internal storage in the consoles.
Now, 26 years later, the ‘youtuber’ specialized in PlayStation content John Glasscock has discovered a hidden function in the PlayStation 1 that allows you to recover recently deleted files.
Glasscock explains in a video posted on his YouTube channel how when accessing the memory card through the console and pressing the R1, R2, L1 and L2 buttons on the controller three times, the deleted file is recovered.
Until now, this function of the PlayStation 1 was unknown, since it did not appear in the manuals of the console, or in the forums or in the support networks, and that many would have appreciated knowing before.
