While the Seremi de Salud prohibited its operation, the Los Dominicos Clinic referred to the death of a patient after undergoing a tummy tuck on the premises.
The Seremi de Salud of the Metropolitan region decreed the prohibition of the operation of the Los Dominicos Aesthetic Clinic, after the death of a patient after surgery. The facility assured that it was calm and indicated that they have the respective authorizations to carry out the intervention carried out.
During the early hours of yesterday, a 42-year-old woman named Harlen Arias died at the medical facility located in the Las Condes commune, after undergoing an tummy tuck.
According to the first records compiled by the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police, the patient came out of the operation well, but hours later she died as a result of a cardiorespiratory arrest.
The chief prosecutor of Flagrancia Oriente, Francisco Lanas, indicated that it was ordered to seize clinical records and it was requested that statements be taken from the medical personnel who participated in the procedure, to evaluate a possible Medical negligence.
The Seremi de Salud of the Metropolitan Region, meanwhile, attended the establishment this morning and indicated that found deficiencies and lack of protocolsfor which he decreed the prohibition of the operation of the clinic.
For his part, Jaime Menares, cousin of the deceased patient, indicated that -so far- the clinic has not provided information to the family of the victim.
According to the Eastern Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, arrest warrants have not yet been requested for the case.

Through a statement, the Los Dominicos Clinic stated that it has the corresponding health authorizations and who can perform major surgeries.
Along with this, they pointed out that the team that performed the operation is external to the clinic and denied the accusation that they would not have experience in Lipoabdominoplasty with fat grafting to the buttocks.
The professional who performed the procedure is a duly licensed physician 20 years ago before the Chilean health authority, that is, with many years of experience in the practice of plastic surgery in our country. Likewise, the anesthetist doctor has her respective accreditation before the health authority ”, they pointed out.
Finally, they indicated that they regret the pain of the family, that “as a clinic we are in permanent contact with them, and collaborating
with the health authority of the Metropolitan region, and the other public organizations that have required background information. We are calm awaiting the results of the processes started”.
