Guanajuato, Gto; March 19, 2023.- The System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), promotes a healthy life to users of the Gerontological Development Spaces (EDG), through the virtual chat: “Recommendations for a correct diet in the Elderly”, for the prevention disease and maintain both physical and mental health.

The talk was given by the nutritionist Mariana Amor Mendoza, who shared with the elderly and coordinators of the Gerontological Spaces about food, the best habits in preparing dishes and tips to keep active through different exercises.

“I see nutrition not only the food that we put in our mouths and that we put on our table, nutrition is everything that nourishes our body, it is the energy we get every day, it is what we read, it is our feelings, it is the environment in which we move, that is what nourishes us”, he expressed.

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of acquiring tools that help to know how to care for food, in addition to exercising regularly and maintaining a positive mind to improve the quality of life of older adults.

Among the recommendations, there is also the consumption of avocado, unheated olive oil, seeds, almonds, walnuts or grated coconut on a daily basis. In addition to legumes such as: beans, lentils, chickpeas, broad beans, peas at least every third day.

Finally, the nutrition specialist highlighted the importance of exercising 150 minutes a week according to the World Health Organization, such as walking, jogging, stretching, among other activities.
