According to a report published on the website of nintenderos, the speedrunner Hwangbro managed in 2021 to create the record of 1:45:05, considered at the time impossible to beat for many users. Nevertheless, on January 25 it was surpassed.
The new speedrun record for Pokémon Red
Speedrunner Pokeguy achieved the new mark with 1:44:03. He revealed that he followed the same method as other players around the world and luck was in his favor.
“This is perhaps the best speedrun Pokémon of all time. This beats the previous record in such an optimized category by more than a minute. Almost nothing went wrong, the most important thing was that there was no red bar for the final fight. I hardly doubt this will be overcome any time soon, or even at all.Pokeguy wrote.
The speedrun community from around the world has sent him numerous messages to congratulate him on such a feat, being called “legendary”. Even long-time record holder Hwangbro referred to his achievement as “a category kill race.”
