Next Saturday the 30th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the “Native Plants in Urban Spaces” conference will be held, organized by the Center for Environmental Studies from Norpatagonia (Ceanpa) and the Undersecretary of Extension of the Atlantic headquarters of the National University of Río Negro.

This activity is part of the VI Conference on Environmental Care, an event that Ceanpa has organized since 2015. The main purpose of these days is to promote an active role in the community in the face of environmental problems that affect towns, ecosystems, productions and economies.through the creation of spaces for debate and environmental awareness.

Among the teachers who will participate as speakers are María Lucrecia Piermarini, Yanina Cuevas, Paola Germain and Cristina Sanhueza, from the National University of the South (UNS) of Bahía Blanca; Cintia Leder (Ceanpa-UNRN-Conicet) and Mauro Fosatti, representative of the Ministry of Environment of the province of Buenos Aires. After the talks and exhibitions, a Native Plant Cultivation Workshop will be held.

In this context, the main objective of the VI Conference is explore the possibility of incorporating species of regional native flora in urban spaces.

9 to 9.30: Presentation by Guadalupe Peter (Ceanpa).

9.30 to 10.15: Use of native plants in urban spaces, by Paola Germain (UNS), Yannina Cuevas (UNS) and Cristina Sanhueza (UNS).

10.15 to 11: Xeriscaping. Experiences from the native species production module of the Patagones experimental farm, presented by Cintia Leder (UNRN).

11am to 11.30am: Refreshment.

11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Eurema: design of green spaces with native plants (local entrepreneurship) by María Lucrecia Piermarini.

12:15 to 1:00 p.m.: The Shelter Garden: native plants to attract floral visitors and other interactions, by Mauro Fossati (Ministry of the Environment – ​​Province of Buenos Aires).

14: Lunch.

14 to 16: Native plant cultivation workshop.
