They will activate the Safe Stops Plan on bridges and other areas due to robberies

From December 2022 to the end of January 2023, there have been at least four robberies in public transport units in Caroní.

The Municipal Police of Caroní (PMC) will reactivate the Safe Stops Plan in San Félix and Puerto Ordaz, in response to recent complaints of robberies in public transport units.

Initially, this plan was launched during the months of November and December, as part of the preventive patrols carried out during Christmas.

However, citizens request greater police presence and surveillance in public areas and communities, feeling vulnerable and stalked by criminals while traveling on buses.

“Starting tomorrow -Monday- the security plans at the stops will be resumed, including the school zones,” PMC authorities asserted, detailing that “operatives are being established on the bridges.”

The new plans indicate that the motorists and patrols must be present at the stops starting at 4:00 am, “and we have detected that these robberies also occur at noon, so we will be very attentive,” they assured.

In this sense, the directors of the PMC declared that “we are aware of these irregular actions, therefore, in addition to supervising, we will implement the review and inspection of people who board the transport units,” they ratified.

robberies and kidnappings

scoop it registers more than four cases of armed robberies in minibuses during the last quarter, the most recent being the one that has alarmed a large part of the Guayacitans.

It was the case in which -allegedly- three men loaded with wallets, telephones and bags of passengers who boarded a unit towards San Félix-Puerto Ordaz, on the Caroní bridge on Guayana Avenue.

As background, there is also another case of kidnapping and robbery of a public transport unit that was traveling from La Chicharronera to Alta Vista, on December 27, 2022.

On the other hand, the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) captured two citizens in early January who were transporting weapons and ammunition in a minibus that covered one of the outgoing routes from the Unare parish.

For this reason, “there are strategic points that are very determined, the Dalla Costa footbridge is one of those,” said the police directors.

After “Macaco” and “Crazy Luis”

This weekend, it was learned that security agencies would be on the trail of the three involved in the robbery that occurred on the Caroní bridge to passengers traveling from Puerto Ordaz to San Félix. Two of them have the aliases “Macaco” and “El Loco Luis”, however, they have not been arrested.
