No matter how the elections in Turkey turn out on Sunday, the election campaign was a lesson in what democracy looks like in times of populist would-be autocrats – gendering not necessary for the time being. Getting rid of an illiberal politician who has had enough time to transform “his” state is very difficult. At least in Europe, may the lessons be learned from this.
