Thief entered a taco shop with a magic weapon and was killed with a real one

In the United States, the death of a thief is being investigated in Houston, Texas, after he entered a restaurant to rob an allegedly armed restaurant and was murdered by one of the diners who were there.

Apparently, and as it became known through a video of the security cameras broadcast on social networks, the thief entered a taco shop with a fake weapon and at the moment he was about to flee, one of the diners shot him in the back, killing him.

The events were recorded on January 5 around 11 pm in Houston, Texas.

In the video you can see how an armed man entered the place totally covered, trying to hide his identity: he was wearing a hood, black gloves and a weapon.

The thief is seen passing table by table, removing the money and valuable belongings from each of the restaurant’s customers. When he approached the last one, he kept the money he managed to steal and then fled, while pointing the gun at the diners.

But, when he was very close to the exit, one of the people who was eating at the site drew a firearm and shot at the assailant.

According to local media that reported the facts, the subject took the money and belongings that the thief had stolen and returned them to the people inside the restaurant.

“While the suspect was collecting money from customers, one of the customers, described as a white or Hispanic male, pulled out a gun and shot the suspect multiple times. The shooter collected the stolen money from the suspect and returned the money to other customers. He and other customers (victims) then fled the scene,” local police said in a statement.

The thief was found by police on the restaurant floor and was pronounced dead by paramedics who came to the scene.

Houston Police Lt. R. Willkens reported that the thief, apparently, was carrying a plastic pistol and they have issued a statement requesting information to identify the man who fired and then escaped from the premises.

“Investigators want to speak to the man about his role in the shooting. No charges have been filed (…) Investigators are asking the shooter and the victims who left the scene to contact the Homicide Division for comment on the incident.” read in the police statement.

To find his whereabouts, the Police released a photograph of the moment in which he escaped from the place, along with images of the vehicle in which he left after the incident in the taco shop.

Finally, this Monday, the Texas police confirmed that the indicated man has already been questioned and his case will go to a jury to determine whether or not he will face a judicial process.

The man’s attorney issued a statement saying his client wishes to remain anonymous and that he acted on his behalf and that of others present.

“In Texas, a shooting is justified in self-defense, defense of others, and defense of property. My client met with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. He intends to continue cooperating with the ongoing investigation,” the lawyer wrote, as quoted by ABC 13.
