“Since the 32-year-old stated that he was traveling with several people, his alibi can be checked in this case. We also do not rule out that a third person committed the crime or might have been involved in it,” said the police spokesman when asked by KURIER.
Two children in the house
The fact that the couple’s two small children were probably staying in the family home at the time of the crime is also particularly tragic. According to reports, however, they should not have noticed anything regarding the bloody deed on their own mother. Relatives of the family take care of them.
Third homicide
The bloody crime discovered on Sunday is the third homicide in Vienna since the beginning of the year and the first suspected murder of a woman. On New Year’s Day, the former president of the Chamber of Pharmacists was found dead in his house in Donaustadt.
Last sign of life
The police gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head of the 74-year-old. Only a few hours earlier, the pharmacist had spent New Year’s Eve with his friends. At 12:30 a.m., contact with the man was lost. The next day – around 11:40 a.m. – his friends found him dead in his home.
