Third-party care: young people who have to grow up (too) early – education

In Austria, it is not often that parents throw their children out at the age of 18. On the contrary: According to Eurostat, most children reach the age of 25 before they leave their parents’ home. At an average of 26, men take longer than women at 24. For some, convenience may play a role, not wanting to do without ironed laundry or a full refrigerator. The majority, however, fail due to financial hurdles: They simply cannot afford to move out early.
