Intel’s supremacy is well and truly over in the laptop world: the American AMD is now on board. Lenovo has also chosen to give the chip manufacturer a chance for its IdeaPad 5 series, also in Pro version. Multimedia-oriented, the IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 with a Ryzen 5 6600HS processor (the latest generation of AMD mobile processors to date), offers excellent value for money. That’s good, the manufacturer currently offers it on his site with a nice reduction.

Lenovo’s IdeaPad 5 Pro 13 is normally sold at the public price of 1,159 euros on the manufacturer’s website. Good news, it is currently reduced to 927.20 euros, or 231.80 euros in savings. You can, if you wish, make your own configuration once on the site, for example by switching to a 2.8k screen at 90hz for 60 euros more or by switching to a more powerful CPU (Ryzen 7 6800HS) for 100 euros what’s more.
A powerful and well-finished laptop
Lenovo’s IdeaPad 5 series is in the mid-range. The laptops in this series are mainly designed for everyday use, between leisure and work, perfect for viewing different multimedia content. The IdeaPad Pro 14 model that interests us here benefits from a discreet, but rather elegant and well-finished design, with a matte graphite gray coating.
Its beautiful screen (14 inches) is ideal for watching movies and working comfortably. Its IPS panel displays a 2.2K definition of 2240 x 1400. The keyboard, as often with Lenovo, is wide and pleasant to type. Thanks to its aluminum case, it is lighter and weighs only 1.41 kg, a quite respectable weight for a 14-inch PC, even if we have already seen it lighter elsewhere.
The strong point of this IdeaPad model is undoubtedly its AMD Ryzen 5 6600HS processor, coupled with 8 GB of RAM. The computer is therefore generally fast, supported by Windows 11 which makes the interface fluid. The CPU has six cores all the same, clocked at 3.3GHz (boost up to 4.5 GHz). The laptop will therefore do very well in multitasking, especially for the creation of content (video editing, photo, etc.). However, do not expect to run the latest games of the moment: the IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 does not have a dedicated graphics card, even if its Radeon 600M controller is capable of running some titles that consume very few resources. Regarding storage, you can count on a comfortable and responsive 512 GB NVme SSD.
Generous connectivity and autonomy
The IdeaPad 5 Pro 7 offers fairly complete connectivity for a mid-range computer. You can simultaneously connect your various peripherals, via an HDMI 2.0 port, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm jack. On wireless connectivity, the Lenovo computer relies on Wi-Fi 6 and of course, Bluetooth, here in version 5.2.
Finally, this model is widely distinguished by its great autonomy, offered by a 3-cell 65W battery. The latter allows approximately 8 to 9 hours of autonomy in conventional use. The IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 is therefore the perfect model for those looking for a simple and fast 14-inch PC to take everywhere for lessons or work.
