The Arma series has been dominating the military realistic sandbox market for a long time. Arma 3 was released in 2013 only on PC, where Steam received more than 160 thousand reviews, 90% of which are positive. However, as time goes by, fans are already waiting for the new generation of their favorite series. Already on May 17, Bohemia Interactive will present the future of Arma. However, will fans like what they see?
According to materials leaked on Reddit, the fourth Arma will be heavily multiplayer-oriented, but the developers promise that it will retain the script editor and support for modifications. In addition, Arma Reforger will be multi-platform – it will be released not only on PC, but also on Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the future. DLC and micropayments are not planned, however, there will be some kind of in-game monetization.
Arma Reforger is set in an alternate 1989. The fighting will unfold in the conditions of the Cold War between the forces of the United States and the Soviet Union on the fictional island of Everon with an area of 52 km2. Despite expanding audiences and targeting consoles, the developer positions Arma Reforger as Arma 4 and promises that the game will provide the tactical depth that the series is loved for, albeit with some concessions.
Finally, Arma Reforger will include two types of grenades, six vehicles (with over two dozen options), 15 different weapons, three factions, and 13 combat roles.
