Apple takes care of every detail of everything it does, regardless of whether it is a massive product that it will sell to its customers or internal products that will be delivered to members of its team. In recent days, a creation that belongs to the second list has been the protagonist of some unboxings in which several details are revealed, but not all.

Its about Apple Anniversary Award, the physical recognition that Apple gives to the oldest employees of the company. The distinctions reward those who for 10, 20, 30 and up to 40 years collaborate with dedication in the innovative company.

While the recognition is not new, the latest installment stands out for its renewed designadapted to the new times and to comply with one of the commitments of which Apple is most proud.

All about the Apple Anniversary Award

According to a post shared from 9to5mac, the physical Anniversary Award was originally made of glass, but Apple updated it with new designs made of aluminum and stainless steel in 2019. The 10-year and 20-year designs are made of aluminum, while the 30-year ones and 40 years are made of stainless steel.

The beveled edges are diamond cut. The stainless steel logo is also mirror finished and is set into a precision machined pocket on the award. And then each awardee’s name is laser engraved into the side of the award, along with the anniversary date. About the design and production process, Apple states:

True to Apple’s commitment to the environment, the awards begin as leftovers from the production process, using the same metals and iconic colors as our products. Those parts are collected and reformulated to create custom alloys. Alloys are cast into long ingots and then cut into blocks and machined to final size. The surface of the aluminum awards is specially polished, sandblasted and then anodized. Stainless steel awards overlap for a stunning mirror finish.

It is made of stainless steel, made in two halves which are then seamlessly laser welded and then overlapped. Because if they were truly solid stainless steel, it would weigh about 35 pounds.

40 Years Awards.

The 40 Year Award is made in much the same way, but the top and bottom are also seamlessly joined together after a special color coating process.
