With currently 762,574 overnight stays, the accommodation company in Linz is heading for a new record. “We would be very happy about the million,” says Dieter Recknagl, Chairman of the Linz Tourism Supervisory Board. Against this background, the city of Linz and the tourism association have extended their strong partnership for the next five years. The city subsidizes the association with 940,000 euros per year, up to now 700,000. That’s a “high amount,” says Mayor Klaus Luger (SP), but justified given the positive development. Tourism City Councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP) sees key factors for the positive development in the city’s rich cultural and event offerings. “We are at a peak in tourism, you can feel it when you walk through the city, there are many groups of tourists out and about,” says Lang-Mayerhofer.

Tourist information is being expanded
The city of Linz and the tourism association have agreed on a number of projects for the next few years. The tender for the expansion of the tourist information in the Old Town Hall will start in October. This is made possible by vacant business premises in Rathausgasse. The contact point for locals and tourists will be expanded to 120 square meters and will in future provide space for advice islands, digital information terminals, a shop and seating. A second entrance is to be built to the main square; the monument protection authority has already given its blessing. The opening of the expanded contact point is planned for autumn 2024.

- Digital information and guidance systems for the city center
- New tourism concepts with a focus on Christmas/winter, markets and the Danube
