This is how SRF justifies a 12-day Oscar trip to Los Angeles

On Sunday the time had come: The Oscars were awarded for the 95th time. The awards show is considered the night of nights in Hollywood, and everyone of distinction traveled to Los Angeles.

SRF also reported live on site this year. The first time since 2017. At that time, the Oscar rice was deleted. Ex-“G&G” presenter Annina Frey (42) had to report on the awards from the studio in Leutschenbach.

Justification at the time: austerity measures. The People magazine cost 14,000 francs per 19 minutes in 2016, 2,000 francs less than today. The cost of a episode in 2022 was 16,000 francs.

So now three employees traveled to Los Angeles for a total of twelve days. You would have lived in “cheap accommodation”, it says on request.

Paola Biason, editor-in-chief of “G&G” explains to Nau.ch why this year’s trip to Hollywood was still worthwhile: “In addition to being close to the event, live reporting offers completely different insights, perspectives and inputs for our numerous contributions that we make around the Oscars publish. We’ve been missing that in recent years.”

This year, SRF also had access to the Dolby Theater Press Room for the first time. “It’s in high demand and not easy to get,” says Biason.
