The regime of Nicolás Maduro presents La Tortuga as the jewel in the crown from his short list of places that he included in the Special Economic Zones of Venezuela, and where he hopes that investors, national and foreign, put their eyes (and resources) for the development of a tentative tourism project. That paradisiacal island, and still virgin, plans to make it the first destination in the Caribbean and the World.

The plan, which was worked on for several months, contemplates the construction of 10 very high level resorts. This was stated by Héctor Silva, Vice Minister of Productive Economy, in an act in which Maduro presented the zones to diplomatic bodies in the country. The economist assured, the protection of the environment was taken into account, with the norms and regulations of the Ministry of Ecosocialism.

They will be installed, according to the model, desalination plants and wind power generators. The construction of the buildings will be on the edge of the island, the official assured, to conserve the flora and fauna, and a research center will also be established to permanently contribute to the development of technology and research.

La Tortuga will also have an international airport and a port, which will be the destination for cruise ships passing through the Caribbean. “Always safeguarding the issue of the environment and the ecosocialism that we have been developing. This project it will be the only one of its kind with renewable energy and with biodegradable materials”, added Silva.

Compete with Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao

The deputy minister said that La Tortuga, with 156 square meters, will be the only island in the Caribbean that will compete with tourism from the islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire.

“The great tourist center of the Caribbean. And, in addition, it will be open like the tower of Babel to the participation of all cultures and religions. It will open respectful spaces for the happiness and tourism of all the cultures of the world. This is an impressive island,” Maduro added during his address.

The ruling party — who indicated that the other areas are the island of Margarita (Nueva Esparta), Puerto Cabello-Morón (Carabobo), La Guaira (Vargas) and Paraguaná (Falcón) — called on businessmen, mainly foreigners, to invest in Venezuela. .

“Attention, investors from Asia, from Europe. Europe, don’t stay out for ideological reasons, stop letting yourself be dragged along by ideological reasons. Come to Venezuela, Europeans. Investors from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa. Come on,” he said.
